Jedi Music Festival

Jedi Music Festival-3

Let me start with saying I don’t usually do event photography but when I got asked to do a “documentary” on the Jedi Music Festival in Southport, Merseyside I was honoured to be involved. I won’t go into the story behind the charity as you can find all the important information on their site. To be honest, I don’t really enjoy this kind of photography, only because I prefer to work with models and interact with the people I am making pictures with. I like to be able to be creative with my shots and not just capture moments of time.

The day was a long one for my usual stints behind the camera and I made almost 2000 pictures. Not that many really for a day’s work but I think I captured the event from beginning to dark. The shots that are here are my favourite. There will be more up on the Jedi site soon with more details of the day.

Lorienne…

Lorienne

I have had the chance to spend some time taking some portraits of some good friends lately. There are more coming but I can’t wait to do a load all at once…I have to rush and do the ones I have done and get them out there. The series of portraits is taken from some shoots I have for a web design project I am involved in. I am actually making pictures of families that will used as the opening of the site I am creating. Within these shoots I have put a little time one on one with most of the people.

Lorienne is a talented girl. She is also very violent…don’t insult her or you will get punched. Her mother is proud…I think she is incredibly photogenic and would love to shoot her more purposefully.

Anyways, I have enjoyed these short posts lately but have a feeling that I will soon be back to some inspirational stuff so do hang on…tk!

Holy Island

Don’t really have much to say today. Smile. Have had a crazy week or so. The Americans have gone home and I have quickly moved on (sorry guys) as I have had to get to Holy Island in Northumbria for my brother’s wedding. The wedding was great. A really simple affair with only eight guests. I was asked to the photography which was a real honour. The best of those shots should get posted for you guys soon. I am not really a wedding photographer but my brother and his wife were great to capture. Also, it is worthy to note, I don’t really “know” what kinda of photographer I am. The process is a daily progression. For example, I keep telling myself that I am not a landscape photographer but…my brother and his wife, Lucy, got married in the castle.

These photographs were taken at 6am following the day of the wedding. I don’t sleep a lot, especially when the sun is up. It is almost a subconscious thought that I need to do something…anyways hope you enjoy these shots.

The Americans…or some of them.

This week there probably won’t be many blogs…I apologize if you were sitting on the edge of your seat. I have been mini bus driving some Americans around Liverpool. No, this is not my second job. They are over here speaking and performing in local schools. They give a talk/presentation and try to inspire the kids to think big and enjoy life. Some of the things I really love, and some of the things that hopefully I will bring to this blog continually.

So really today is really just a photo only blog day but it has a title and a few ramblings of my words to go along with it. The pics are mainly simple, natural lit portraits. I love doing the simple things well and hope that these pics reflect that. Yeah, there are some cheezy grins (they are americans, after all) but these guys have great hearts and a wonderful passion to improve people’s lives around them. We actually spent the afternoon down on the Mersey riverside cheering on the runners…may post the pics sometime…

Donna - Impact Modeling-5 Some more photos from my recent shoots. Models all come from Impact Modeling and Sian Davies Makeup has done the styling. Just a quick to all those readers who follow this blog on facebook, it’s worth popping to the actual blog post on my site as for some reason facebook likes to miss out some photos from the feed…what would life be without technological difficulties?
