Glitter Kittens shoot for Vicky Martin…

Awesome shoot, again, with the girls. More images to come soon!

This is an excellent reason to be flexible and passionate about your work. Zelda (glitter kitten boss lady), grabbed the opportunity when I was shooting them for a project of mine. I love collaborating with people! These images were a result of Zelda having thought to use me when she could. She smartly organised some clothing by two well known Manchester designers for the Kittens to model, the other images will be up soon!

I could have quite easily said no as it wasn’t part of the shoot I had planned but where would the fun be in that? I rolled with the chance and was able to create some images for them and the designer. This is an example of how fast things can move if you are flexible and willing to work with others. Part of my passion of being a photographer comes from being thrown into situations and having the chance to meet new people all the time. I love being part of a creative team and while I have my name down as the photographer I can never thank the people involved any greater. Zelda offered me some interesting work and hopefully I have delivered some images that the Kittens can be proud of!! Go to the personal section of my site to see them bigger. : )

My next blog will have the images of the girls modelling ElvisJesus clothing.

Challenged…

bex99

Be creative. Be creative in everything. Be thoughtful about your creativity. Produce creative work consistently. Love the process. Allow the process to work. Research. Push forward. Develop your ideas. Think about where you are going. Enjoy it.

I, of course, am talking to myself. Feeling a bit lost in all the fast movingness of my work. Take photos. Process them. Photoshop them. Upload them. Get feedback…start again. Creativity can so easily become standardised in our day to day to productivity. I can use the same process, create identical looking work using copy and paste as my lifestyle choice. My images can and will look the same.

How do I break free?

Challenge myself! Keep challenging myself!! Hopefully you will see the results…p.s. you break free exactly the same way : )

Glitter Kittens…rock!

glitter rock...

A long and fun day yesterday. Was shooting some images for a book that I am putting together. Took well in excess of a thousand shots, left the house at 8.15am and didn’t get home before 10pm! Thank you so much Lisa Hawes!! She was my assistant for the day and a real trooper. Being a voice activated lightstand took some effort!! I didn’t even get to buy her dinner like planned…oh well, we shall be doing it all again next week!

These images were not taken as part of the project but something specially for a band called Vains of Jenna. They are swapping advertising privileges – the glitter kittens wearing their tee and vice versa. It was probably the most fun and excitement I had all day!

Enjoy the shots…

Lucy

A bit of personal work and play. I had Lucy come down to the studio just to get creating some shots. I have been going through a phase of contacting people I have never met before to give me some inspiration and challenge. It is funny to see the differences in people when they get in front of the camera. I like pushing myself to meet people and to somehow create images of them that are wonderful and creative in their eyes and minds.

I am not saying it works every time, though I think Lucy has provided me with some lovely images. What I love about people photography, whether it be fashion, portraiture or just for fun, is the range of people you can meet. Within this range of people are the people who love the camera, or to the other extreme people who hate the spotlight. Thankfully, Lucy enjoyed the spotlight and the shots reflected that.

I want to thank Lucy for putting up with my musings for the shoot. Hope you enjoy here images.

Alliee, dance and long exposures…

_DSC0670

Not really played around with flash and long exposures before, today was the perfect opportunity to experiment as Alliee is quite a good dancer. Hope you like.

Shay

Good day today! Photoshoot with Alliee went well. Did some work with her to go onto her website, etc. Some of those pics will go up when they have been cleared. These shots are of Shay. She was the stylist that helped us in the studio. I took some time between changes of clothes to make a picture or two of her. She has a lovely unique style and face so I thought she could cameo in my blog. : )

We were a bit unlucky with the weather today, we were supposed to go outside but it rained so we had to make due with an extension in the studio! Originally, we only had an hour and half but the people following cancelled so we stayed for an extra 3 hours!

Behind the scenes

_DSC0333

Not a lot to tell here except that theses are some basic behind scenes shots for an editorial in a men’s fitness magazine. Don’t want to say too much as the article isn’t out till June/July. It’s basically about a journalist who is training to do a UFC cage fight. He’s has been training since November and is nearly there. Looking battered and bruised his training schedule has been grueling. Personally, I have no sympathy for him – it was his own idea!! : )

I have now finished my weeks work experience, will blog some more later about another shoot we did but will leave you now as I need to get home on the train. It’s not a long journey but I am lacking some serious sleep! Hopefully, Virgin First class will be as relaxing as it was on the way down.

Canary Wharf and testing lights…

_DSC0295

Today hasn’t been quite a photographers dream, more of a touristy day out and time spent on the tube. Adrian had to be in a board meeting this morning for a collaborative that he is involved with. He meets together with some other photographers to discuss their stock photography site.

With me having a morning off, Ben and I, got to go do the tourist thing. Canary Wharf, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament and Buckingham palace were on the list. Didn’t really take any shots, wanted to enjoy the walk and exploration more. Of course, I have seen it all but hey…

Once I made it to Adrian’s nothing was really on the agenda. He spends a lot of time on the phone networking which is actually interesting to hear how he talks to people, etc. As he is really pushing himself to get into motion film using dslrs we tested some lights and some other gear with the Canon 5d mkII then I was done and it was back on the tube home!

Enjoy the simple touristy shots… : )
